Behavioral Traits Overview

The MERIT Profile behavioral traits have been developed by using a standard four quadrant behavior analysis. The MERIT Profile has 144 behavioral descriptors and is comprised of 4-Behavioral Traits. The dominate trait can account for 50% of a person's behavioral tendencies.

  • Degree of Control
  • Emphasizes shaping the environment by overcoming opposition and challenges
  • Likes bottom line results, taking risks, challenges, delegating responsibility but not authority
  • Dislikes vagueness, indecisiveness, laziness, small talk, non-confidence and mediocrity
  • Tendencies are getting results, taking action, accepting challenges, making quick decisions
  • Motivated by power an authority, challenge, direct answers and individual accomplishment
  • Fearful of loss of control in their environment and being taken advantage of
  • You will notice self-confidence, decisiveness, risk-taking
  • Limitations are lack of concern for others, impatience, moving without considering outcomes
  • Strengths are positive, focused, aspiring, sparks to a challenge, self assured, healthy ego

  • Likes an audience, to be liked, brainstorming, party/play/laughter, surprises and delegating
  • Dislikes personal criticism, technical challenges, pessimists, negativism, being alone (a lot)
  • Tendencies are being involved with people, enthusiastic, making a favorable impression
  • Motivated by social recognition, group activities and freedom of expression
  • Fearful of social rejection, disapproval and loss of influence
  • You will notice enthusiasm, charm, sociability, persuasiveness, expression of emotion
  • Limitations are impulsiveness, disorganization and lack of follow-through
  • Strengths are cordial, good natured, pleasant, shares ideas, fairness minded, socially inclined

  • Emphasizes achieving stability, accomplishing tasks by cooperating with others
  • Likes leisure time, comfort/harmony, routines, deliberation, repetition and cooperation

  • Tendencies are to be calm, patient, loyal and a good listener
